The approach is in fog and the pilots are intending to complete an automatic landing. A critical malfunction in the automatic system about 100 feet to touchdown, prompts the Captain Ben to go-around. The reason is, with no visual contact, the pilots cannot see and the aircraft may not flare, could deviate from correct tracking and it is too dangerous to continue the approach. If the pilots had visual contact and could land visually then of course they could, but the reason you would be doing this type of approach with AUTOLAND in the first place is because the visibility was poor.
