We have been taken out of G-Man’s grasp. Us and Alyx were put back at the base of the Citadel by the Vortigaunts. Looking up at the sky in flames, we know the Citadel will have a catastrophic explosion. We need to get the hell outta dodge. We’re talking with Eli and Isaac, and Isaac says that if we're on our way out of the city, we should be fine in the case of an explosion. But we're still here. At the front door. Isaac freaks out, you can see it in his face, that he knows we'll die...unless...we go inside and diffuse the core ourselves. This would not only give us time to dip, but also many other citizens. It's hesitantly agreed. We go back inside the Citadel in a sweet ride that Dog finds for us. Once we're in, we make our way through the crumbling structure. Getting the Super Gravity Gun once again and encountering Advisors along the way. We try to find the core chamber and eventually find an elevator that leads to it. We find the core, and it's having a serious meltdown. Snot, tears, and slobber everywhere. Since we're wearing the HEV suit, we head on in and get to work reactivating the three core diffusers. Once we do, the core returns to normal levels and we regroup with Alyx. She found some sensitive, top-secret, information that the Combine was hiding. And we're gonna leave with it. The Combine put up a good enough fight but we make it to the train platform and make our escape. It doesn't last long until this train wrecks and we're put in the same boat as everyone else, on foot to the train station that takes us outside of the city. We get to meet the new Zombie Combine soldiers "Zombine". A fun group of individuals that like to run around with a live grenade, my kinda people. We also see some Antlions roaming around causing a ruckus, but we take care of it with 3,000 pounds of heavy metal. We're underground, in the dark, and our light sucks. We have to find breaker boxes to restore the power in some areas. Eventually, we have to do the same for an elevator that will take us to the surface. Power it up and wait for it to arrive. We only have to hold off a never-ending wave of Zombies. We fight, in the light and in the dark. Through the flames and through the shadows. Claiming a near-death victory, the elevator finally shows up and we make it out alive. So now, we've reached the surface and are about to open the gate to City 17... Hot damn, this was fun.
