Today my 2016 GMC 2500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the BMW turnover ball under bed gooseneck trailer hitch with custom install kit, part number BWGNRK1016. Here's what it's going to look like once it's installed. Now we can pull the pin from the driver's side fender well and we'll pull the ball up, we can flip it over, drop it back down and stow it away. A nice feature about this is it's got these spring loaded safety chain hold downs. When they're not in use it'll be pretty flush to the floor. When you want to flip over your ball, you're going to pull out on this and pull it to the front, that locks it in the open position. Once you flip the ball over, pull out, push it to the back, release it and that locks the ball back into position. Now with the BMW side plate, it's going to use factory weld nuts to attach so there's going to be no drilling or having to fish any wires or nuts inside our frame. It's going to bolt onto the side of the frame rail. The only holes you're going to have to drill is going to be the four inch hole for the center and four half inch holes for our safety chains. Now this gooseneck hitch is designed for thirty thousand pounds of gross trailer weight, which is the amount of our loaded trailer and a seventy-five hundred pound vertical load limit which is the amount on the ball. Two and five sixteenths ball, it's going to be a complete under mount system. YOu're not going to be required to remove your bed or do any welding, it's simply going to slide in between by cutting a notch in our channel in the side of the bed, sliding our braces in and standing them upright and attaching our center section. Since our ball has a square base, it's never going to become locked up inside of our gooseneck hitch for some reason, it's not going to rotate around in there because it's attached to the square prong and it's drilled on both sides so you can put it in either way and not have to worry about always lining it up. It's going to have a large five eights diameter pin that's going to lock it into place that way you know that your load is going to be secure. When you pull it out when it's upside down, there's a nice little handle in here that you grab with your finger. The rounded edge here is going to allow the dirt and grime to slip down through and not make it difficult to get the ball in and out of the receiver. Now our hitch, our side plates and all the under bed components are going to be powder coated in this grey finish that's going to help protect against rust and corrosion and keep it working well for years to come. It tucks up mostly in between our bed rails here. It's not going to make any contact with our exhaust. The only thing you do have to remove is that heat shield that originally went across the top of our exhaust here. With our new gooseneck in place it's not going to allow the heat to pass up through there anyway. You can also see our spring loaded safety chain loops. It's going to always keep them in the down position when not in use and they're going to be really easy to pull up from the top and attach your safety chains. You can also see this is a custom design where it's going to have plenty of clearance over top of our fuel tank so that's not going to be an issue. Now that we've gone over some of the features and how well it fits, let's go ahead and show you how simple it is to install. We've gone ahead and dropped own our spare tire. The next thing we're going to need to do, we're going to ask you to remove these inner fender well wires if your vehicle is so equipped. I'm using a two fifteen torch. There's going to be thirteen screws that hold them in. Two on the back side, there's going to be three along the top and we're going to have a couple down the sides here. We'll go ahead and remove all of those screws. Set this aside for re-installation at a later time. With the spare tire out of the way this part is completely optional but it does give you a little bit more room to work under here. We're going to go ahead and take out this heat shield as well with the two thirteen millimeter bolts. We'll set this aside for later. Now our next step is going to remove this heat shield here. You're going to have one bolt in the top of the frame in the back here, one up here in the front on top. There's going to be two on the side that we can get from the outside once we lower down the vehicle. Go ahead and take these two out with a thirteen millimeter wrench. Now from the passenger side we'll have two more screws right here, or bolts. Now we can move the ball to the side and take out our heat
