SID EARGLE - Ill Violent

This is Sid Eargle, a solo-rocker from South Carolina. These are his electric sounds. Welcome to the trailer park circle pit from hell. The album's introductory track, "Do ya wanna F in that cop car?", aptly introduces the listener to the raw, volatile rock 'n' roll reverence -- or potentially sacrilege, depending on who you ask -- that propels this album into a downward spiral of squealing guitar leads, three-to-four chord anti-melodies, and an urging flurries of stick-on-skin drum abuse. The vocals howl with hoarsened muscles, a profane marriage between guitars amply-a-grimed and drumbeats plunking afoul, the song's control and fluidity feeling mere seconds from complete and total dissolution at any given moment. It's a word often applied to punk describings, but there's truly no better word to prescribe to Sid Eargle: it's raw. It's unrelenting. It's... a little sickly, ever-so-slightly diseased by reckless, lo-fi sensibilities. But I feel that's the major appeal of Sid's twangy, garage-bred musical expressions -- it's about as un-musical as you'd want a DIY punk album to be, inappreciably separated from the concept of consonance and pleasantry. It's ugly, and it lives to be reviled -- but it sure wouldn't stop anyone from digging their shitkickers into the earth, toes tapping in response to this supercharged rockabilly spirit. In these regards, Sid is one talented individual. I highly recommend that you check out his Bandcamp page if your ears are enjoying what they hear.
