From Defeated to Determined: Our Journey Making a 3D Platformer in Unreal Engine 5 || Devlog

Hey, everyone! My name’s Yas, and in this dev blog, I’m taking you through our journey of building a 3D platformer in Unreal Engine 5. After countless unfinished projects (thanks, scope creep), my brother, a friend, and I have decided to keep things small and manageable this time around. No more AAA-sized ambitions... at least for now! In this video, I’ll introduce you to our latest project, a 3D platformer that challenges players to climb from the bottom to the top using objects that fall from portals connected to other worlds. We’re still fleshing out the story, but we’ve got some cool mechanics in place, and I’ve been working on the level design and obstacle courses. We’re using Unreal Engine 5’s new Game Animation Sample Project as a base for movement mechanics, and we’ll be adding our own features from there. It’s early days, but I wanted to give you all a sneak peek into the progress we’ve made so far.
