I think the sounds in this video are as good as the visuals. This quick paced video shows the process of mixing up a glaze from bagged raw materials. It’s a very basic Tenmoku, (85% Cornish stone, 15% whiting and 16% red iron oxide), that when reduction fired will turn into a deep, mirror-like black, that breaks to a rich-red on any sharp edge. It’s recipe I’ve never tried firing in oxidation, so if you do please send me a picture. The raw materials slake down in water for a moment, in a bucket I place a batt over to stop the dust from wafting out, although I also wear a mask throughout this process as typically these materials aren’t something you want to breathe in. Next, my glaze mixer is placed into the mix and turned on, (it’s a Gladstone G80 for those interested), and I let it stir the mixture for a good ten minutes or so, usually as I clean up. It’s then poured out, through a sieve, into another bucket. As this particular glaze doesn’t need to be too thick, it passes through nicely, so only a little manual work to scrape through the excess is needed and that’s it. Lid on, the bucket lifted onto a dolly, and the floor thoroughly mopped. #asmr #oddlysatisfying #pottery #glazing #sounds ____ https://linktr.ee/floriangadsby
