The rescue call said there was a possibly dead bat hanging low for 24 hours, but the MOP had no idea if it was alive or had a baby on it. I thought, easy peasy; I can drop in and check a dead bat, probably off powerlines, which will most likely be male and have no baby; bag it up and dispose of it and all on my way to the nursing home to visit my Mum.. Of course it couldn't be as easy as I planned, and turned out to be a skinny 10 week baby (whom the MOP thought was huge) stuck in a courtyard side passageway of a terrace house. Predictably, our little baby was rather unhappy about the entire situation including the lead up to her misadventure, the architecture, the plants, the rescue, me (the furless pink kidnapping giant) and basically everything about everything. I sorted her out in the carpark of the nursing home and put her to bed for the time I was with Mum, and brought her home. I popped her on Owl so she could suck his beak. I dropped her off to a carer that night; I've been too busy to take bats into care for a while. The carer as asked me to get an xray for her collarbones this week so I'll see her again. Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for me. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status.
