Raymond berates Klaus for not doing enough to find Megan and Roland. Roland returns and Raymond demands to know what he’s done with Megan. He tells them he locked Megan and Dorian up in a prison. Roland finally admits that he’s after the throne and that he will do whatever it takes to get it. Roland explains his plan: Raymond will marry Sarah, a commoner, and he will have to abdicate, handing the crown to his brother. Raymond refuses to go along with the plan, but Roland says he’ll kill Megan and Dorian unless both Sarah and Raymond comply. Raymond says he’ll consider the offer, but only on the condition that he gets to speak to Megan. Dorian pounds on the door and demands to be released, much to the annoyance of her roommate and the amusement of the armed guards outside the door. Megan blames Dorain for their entire predicament. She reminds Dorian how she trashed Raymond and sang Roland’s praises to the American press. Max tells Lily his life in Llanview and his life with Gabrielle are over. Jared finds out Lily took Max to see Gabrielle and that it didn’t go well. Max wants a straight answer from the doctor: will he get his old face back? Jared says he can’t make any promises until the burns heal and he sees what the totality of the damage looks like, but he’s convinced he can do as well as anyone else in restoring Max’s face. Viki tells Clint what she discovered about Michael’s involvement with Herb’s campaign. Clint says that explains the headline he just read in The Intruder, and he hand’s Viki a cover story (by none other than Llanview’s favorite yellow journalist, Dean Stella) calling her a bigamist. Lily asks Max to tell her how he and Gabrielle met and fell in love. He tells her the whole story: how they met in Argentina, how she had his son, the trial, the nunnery, the proposal. Lily is convinced Gabrielle could still love him if he gave her the chance, but he says no one could ever love the monster he is now. Lily promises that while Jared heals him physically, she will help him heal emotionally. Clint blames Roger for the article because Roger knew about the marriage all along and never did anything about it. Roger asks whether Clint ever really supported Viki’s campaign or if he just pretended to so he would be around for this I-told-you-so moment. Clint turns the tables on him, suggesting Roger is the one who used the campaign to get closer to Viki. Kevin and Joey skip school after some kids saw the article and made fun of them. Clint is forced to explain what a bigamist is and admit that while Viki and Roger were married a long, long time ago, that marriage was never legal and her marriage to Clint is. Roland brings Raymond to see Megan and Dorian. He explains Roland’s plan to her, and he apologizes for the ordeal she and the others are going through. He promises he will set things right and make it up to her somehow. Megan says maybe he can just go through with the wedding then expose the whole scheme and have it annulled, but Raymond thinks Roland must have considered that scenario and therefore would have a plan to ensure their silence after the wedding. Although Raymond promises to solve this somehow, Dorian isn’t holding her breath and thinks they need an alternate escape plan. Raymond returns to the palace and tells Sarah they have to go along with Roland’s plan to keep Megan and Dorian safe. Roland tells Sarah the next step is to send Bo a Dear John letter. After being reminded of the stakes, Sarah sits down to pen the missive.
