A film made to answer children and families questions about what happens in surgery when having an operation under general anaesthesic/anaesthesia. This is a free resource to share on your hospital website when shared from our YouTube channel. 'A Little Deep Sleep - a Family Guide to Anaesthetics' aims to ease anxieties children and parents may have about anaesthetics, giving them a clear idea about what might happen during a family's hospital visit. It takes the viewer on an authentic journey from entering hospital to going home, including undergoing a general anaesthetic and waking up after surgery. The film was a collaboration between ForMed Films and Anaesthetists (Dr Judith Nolan and Dr Anthony Bradley). The team researched what worried children and parents the most, and this film was made to answer their concerns. The film was made on location with interviews and authentic sounds of Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. A number of children shared their experiences before and after an their operation, and their voices can be heard in this film. It was funded by the Grand Appeal charity.
