Med Breaks - Palmachim

Med Breaks is a series of surf documentaries by Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar and Ro E Shalti, both surfers in sole, sharing their insight of Mediterranean surf delights; hidden surfing spots along the holly land's unique Mediterranean coastline. Palmachim, the second of the Med Breaks series, revolves around Palmachim Beach and its surf inhabitants; Arni Crovetti, the owner of a famous bar, Guy Mizrahi, a skipper, Ella Ben David, a surf instructor and Tal Abramov, a fish ponds' constructor. Palmachim Beach, just short of 25 km south of Tel Aviv halfway to the port city of Ashdod, is named after Palmachim, the bordering kibbutz established in 1949 by former members of the Palmach underground organization. Palmachim is one of the holy land's most preserved Mediterranean coast strips, home of rare species surviving the massive developments in the last century. Thanks to the historical value of the ancient port city "Yavneh Yam", which was there since 2nd millennium BCE, a major private real estate development initiative which construction started early this century was blocked and Palmachim Beach was declared a national park, protected for good. Palmacim Beach, previously "Yavneh Yam", has been a witness to some of ancient the holy land’s most dramatic history. Located on the Mediterranean coastline, this ancient port city was continuously occupied since the Bronze Ages up through the Middle Ages. Form the Hellenistic period onwards it has been involved in many of the region’s important historical events, such as the Maccabean Revolt, Roman rule, Byzantine religious struggles and pilgrimages, and finally the early Islamic use of the site as a prison. "Yavneh Yam" was deserted in the 12th century, berried with time for 800 years, until it was discovered by archeologists a decade after the establishment of Palmachim. Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar: A Videographer and artist, active for many years and well appreciated in the Israeli film industry. In recent years, Yaeer was involved in numerous international productions amongst which are "The Goodwin Project", "God Went Surfing with the Devil" both in the US and "Covelong Point" in India. Ro E Shalti: One of Israel's renowned film editors, presently the house Editor of Mako, Israel's leading entertainment portal, formerly the Editor of "Guy Pinnes" TV entertainment magazine. Ro E is behind editing some of Israel's most popular singers' song clips; Shlomo Artzi, Shalom Hanoch, Riff Cohen, Moshe Peretz and more. סרטוני גלישה מד ברייקס פלמחים
