Baritone) E-flat Piano Version: Solo Horn in Eb Performance notes: While William Rimmer, the composer, is most noted for his marches, he also wrote a number of pieces to feature cornet. This is a polka, very much in the style which was in vogue in the early Twentieth Century. This arrangement reduces the full band arrangement to just a standard brass quintet with soloist. The tempo may be rubato throughout the slow opening solo section. This rubato may be both through larger affectations of tempo itself, and smaller gestures by the soloist which do not directly affect the tempo. The metronome markings are suggestions only, and the soloist may choose to alter these as he or she wishes.
