Riding Blind One of Whistler's HARDEST Double Blacks - GARGAMEL (and Zanarchy)

Gargamel (and Zanarchy) have been at the top of my to-do list for a long time now, but I've always shied away due to the physicality and sheer exposure this ride has to offer. The rocks are sharp and undulating, ready to shred your tires or toss you OTB with even the slightest mistake. The roots are everywhere, like a maze of wheel-grabbing spaghetti- and the steeps... the steeps just keep on coming! This was one of the best tests of bike handling I went through this year, and I feel really good with how far my technical riding has improved. And what an awesome trail too! Weaving through the beautiful forests with some of the best use of natural terrain I've ever seen, and some of the most unique and impressive trail work as well. I've heard a lot of negative opinions on this trail, and while I understand, I think a lot of it is undeserved. You can't go into this ride expecting 1hr up and half hour down. The whole ride is up and down, some of the toughest ups and downs I've ever seen- it's more of a collection on gnarly riding connected by bursts of technical uphill... so if you're prepared for that, you'll have an awesome time! Just bring snacks and a lot of water ;) As my summer season in Whistler has come to its end and I sit back at my computer in Kamloops, I feel a little bad I didn't record as much this year as I did last year. I got some good stuff, but I still feel I missed out on a lot of special rides that I would've rather captured. There is one more video besides this one ready to upload, and its another "music biking" style video. There is a lot I can record here, but I still need to fix some pieces of my bike and actually do it. I'd like to get an insta360 X4 at some point, but maybe I'll wait for some sales on that. Both sides of my lens cover are either scratched or cracked, which makes for some less than ideal quality. Plus, the chest cam just shakes like a mf on bumpy ass trails like these. Either way, I'm really happy with getting this video out finally, I just hope I can do a bit more in the coming weeks!
