Amtrak of the 1990s in HO Scale

The National Passenger Rail Corporation, better known as Amtrak, is a quasi-public corporation that was formed in 1971 in an attempt to rescue America's then failing passenger rail network. Amtrak has seen many changes in the following five decades. The 1990s were an interesting time in the annals of Amtrak. It was a time when an Amtrak consist could contain everything from the newest GE locomotive to sleeping cars used during World War 2. Join us as we follow two Amtrak passenger trains across the Western North Carolina Railroad. These trains are painted in Amtrak's Phase III paint, typical of the 1990s. We follow two trains over the WNC. The first is a westbound train led by two Genesis locomotives in Phase 3 paint. This chase begins at 00:25. The second is an eastbound train led by a pair of F40PH diesels. This train is loosely based on the consist of the Cardinal of the time. The chase begins at 09:14. Filmed on the club layout of the Northern Virginia Model Railroaders, Vienna VA. Locomotives Featured: Amtrak P40 803 with Tsunami sound Amtrak P42 32, Soundtraxx non-sound decoder Amtrak F40PHs 338 and 359, ESU LokSelect All Amtrak Rolling Stock featured in this video are Walthers cars, mostly from the Mainline range.
