Walls of Liscarroll [D-ish] - September 26, 2024

This was our "Jig Thursday" selection from September 26, 2024. Our friend Sol reminded us of this lovely jig. Liscarroll is an old town in Cork—and the tune is probably named for the remains of the Liscarroll Castle, the third largest castle in Ireland. Built in the 13th century, it still towers over little Liscarroll Village. Flute player Francis O’Neill included the tune in his 1903 collection, and also in his 1907 book. So it’s been a hot ticket for a while. We’ve heard it played up a step, but it’s so nice here in D. -- We started this 'series' on a diff social media platform. We wanted to share a few of our favorite tunes, and record them in a minute (so we could share the whole thing). It's such a small little project. But it's been fun to blast through a few of our very favorite jigs. We're putting the vids up on YT, for folks who want an easier way to search for titles.
