AIDA Seminars - Turkcell Artificial Intelligence Technologies:Real World Applications - Berkay Topçu

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are two hot topics that dominate all different types of industries and pave the road to digital transformation. All companies generate data and most of them try to utilize these data to come up with smart decisions related to their businesses in order to increase their efficiency and revenues. Also, most companies deploy (or integrate to their existing pipelines) artificial intelligence based solutions for reducing manual labour, automating everyday tasks, increasing customer satisfaction, etc. In this talk, we will talk about real world use cases and scenarios that we use artificial intelligence technologies in Turkcell, from image and video processing to chatbots, robotic process automation, recommendation engines and AI in health. Bio: Berkay Topçu received his B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering (with High Honors) from Sabancı University in 2007. Then, he received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electronics Engineering in Sabancı University in 2009 and 2016, respectively. From 2010 to 2020, he worked as a chief researcher in TÜBİTAK BİLGEM on biometric Technologies (fingerprint and face recognition mainly). Since 2020, he has been working as an Expert Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Group, in Turkcell Technology where he is working on developing artificial intelligence based solutions to real world use cases. His research interests include machine learning and deep learning for biometrics, image analysis, computer vision and NLP.
