Winter Backpacking Saguaro National Park: Tanque Verde Loop

This was a 3 day backpacking trip into the Rincon Mountains, AKA the east side of Saguaro National Park (which you need permits to camp in - obtained from recreation.gov). I got up into the snow line on this one, a few days after first snowfall of the 2022-2023 winter season. Probably no deeper than a foot along the west part of Tanque Verde Ridge. Originally I thought about heading up to Manning Camp on top of Mica Mountain (8000ft elev.) but I decided to only do permits for the lower camps at Juniper Basin and Douglas Spring - mainly because I didn't feel like breaking trail in deeper snow above 7000 feet. And there are plenty of opportunities to backpack the higher elevations of the Rincons in the summer time. I don't currently own any waterproof boots, because my feet and achilles tendons do not agree with them - I'm like a ride or die trail runner kind of guy. But I tested out 3mm neoprene socks over Injini wool toe socks and man did they work great in the snow. It's probably going to be my snow hiking footwear choice going forward because it worked so well keeping my feet warm. Thanks for watching!
