I collected my first copy of this piece from the local music shop (Crane's, In Wrexham) on the day I got my O-level results in August 1971. It was marked at 10/6 (ten shillings and sixpence for youngsters reading this!) though I must have paid in decimal coinage. But despite having played it many times - always molto adagio! - on many different instruments, I had never realised until today that Peeters (himself an organist) had originally composed the piece as the slow movement of his Sonata for trumpet and piano. Once again, the wonderfully flute-like 8' Stopped Diapason on the Great takes most of the melody. Some of the Pedal notes had to be played an octave down, as the 16' Lieblich Bourdon is currently missing quite a few notes higher up the pedal board. If you feel able to make a contribution to the organ's upkeep (or the church's general maintenance) then please do: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donor... At the moment (following what seems to have been an attack of reactive arthritis in January) the organist's feet and fingers are at least as rickety as the organ; but there's no crowdfunding page for me, alas! However, there is a crowdfunding page for restoration of the church's historic turret clock and bells: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfundi...
