Come join us as we take a break from the big city crowds and head towards the quaint mountain town of Takayama. In part 2 of our Japan travel series, we explore Takayama's historic Sanmachi District, where the buildings and homes that line the streets date back to the 1600’s. Then, we visit the picturesque farming village of Shirakawa-go, dedicated a UNESCO heritage site in 1995. Finally, we head further into the mountains to the outskirts of Takayama to Okuhida Onsengo, an area renowned for its 5 onsen resort towns. We stay in a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in Shinhotaka Onsen resort town.
