4 More Days Hiking & Camping in the Peak District - Part Two

Part Two. ======== For day two of our trip, we set off from Alport Moor then went down through Birchinlee Pasture and into the woodland. At the bottom of the woodland, we took the path which led us up the West End Valley. We followed the path up to the top of the West End Valley, where we then climbed up the bank and out of the valley. From there we had a short 1K walk across the moor to Grinah Stones. From Grinah Stones, we then walked along the edge to Barrow Stones. From Barrow Stones we then made our way towards Lower Small Clough in the direction of the Upper Derwent Valley. We then picked up the track which led us to Ronksley Cabin. It was here that we decided to spend our second night. Ronksley Cabin was a great location. Although a shooting hut, recently there had been some renovations to the place, with signs of repair to the walls and new wooden furniture in the form of tables and benches. This made the place feel more like a mini bothy rather than a shooting hut. We settled in and made/eat some food whilst downing a few tins of beer. We had some great laughs and chatted long about stuff. With the radio on for some background music, it made the whole experience totally enjoyable. At one point Dave @DaveGoodman1959 even found a Chess set and we had a couple of games. In the morning, we packed up, had a brew and sorted ourselves out. We then left Ronksley Cabin, said our goodbyes and then continued on with day three's journey.👍
