Yo-yo! We are taking a look at scouting. The most important part of trail building! The more I learn about trail building the more I realize how vast it is. Soil, weather, plants, construction (dry mortar) and I become more excited. There is so much to building a good mountain bike trail and it all starts with scouting. favourite Skip this step or cut this corner and you are almost always guaranteed to get an end product that isn't the best it could have been. The truth is there is probably a better line than the one you are currently planning on using and you are missing out! I'm not an expert at trail building and I'm not claiming to be, I want to learn more so that I can hopefully build better trails. The trail building 101 series isn't a definitive tutorial list of the "must do's" of building your own mtb trail but rather my teaching, giving advice and my favourite tips based on my own experience.
