KNOL KNOL KHALAN CURRY - Mrs Vahchef

A authentic recipe from kerala which belongs to Turnip family known as Kohlrabi in english. cooked in fresh coconut and curd goes very well with rice and rotis. http://www.vahrehvah.com/knol-khol-kh... Ingredients: Knol Khol - 250 gms Water - 500 gms Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp Salt - to taste Coconut, grated - 2 tbsp Cumin seeds - ½ tsp Green Chillies - 3-4 nos Curd, beaten - 1 cup Oil - 1 tbsp Mustard seeds - ½ tsp Methi seeds - ¼ tsp Red chillies - 2-3 nos Hing - pinch Curry leaves - 1-2 sprigs Method: 1. Peel the skin of the knol khol and cut into pieces and soak in water. 2. Heat some water in a vessel add when it comes to a boil, add little turmeric powder, salt and knol khol pieces. 3. Cover the vessel with a lid and cook for about 5 -10 minutes until the vegetables are nicely cooked. 4. In a mixie blender, add some freshly grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies and grind to soft paste. Transfer this mixture into a bowl. 5. Add one cup of curd to the coconut mixture and mix well. 6. In a pan, add little oil and when it gets hot, add mustard seeds, methi seeds, red chillies, pinch of hing and curry leaves. 7. Add the coconut-curd mixture in the kadai and mix well. Add the boiled knol khol pieces and sauté. Just bring this to one boil and switch off the flame. 8. Serve with hot rice, roti, chapatti etc.
