Amtrak Northeast Regional #94 Full Ride From New York Penn Station to New Haven [7-31-20]

Welcome aboard Amtrak Northeast Regional Train #94 the weekday train from Norfolk, Virginia to Boston South Station! Today we will only be traveling on the Northeast Corridor section of track between New York City, New York, and New Haven, Connecticut. Our train is lead by a Siemens ACS-64 locomotive. Our sole stop along the way today will be Stamford, Connecticut. The New York to New Haven section of the Northeast Corridor dates back to 1849 when it was first completed by the New York New Haven and Hartford railroad. The entire line has been electrified since 1907 via overhead-catenary. Most of the line between New York and New Haven is quadruple-tracked with occasional triple and double-track sections. Metro-North's New Haven Line runs concurrently along most of the line up until New Rochelle, NY. The section of track we will be traveling on today is the slowest of all four sections of the Northeast Corridor with a top speed of only 90 MPH for a short 3-mile section of track located in New Rochelle. This is primarily due to the aging infrastructure and frequent curvature of the line. Between New Haven and New Rochelle, our top speed is only a mere 80 MPH between the Harrison and Larchmont Metro-North Stations. The line is owned by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) from just East of New Haven Union Station to the New York State-Line. From there to the interlocking in New Rochelle where the Metro-North New Haven Line splits from the Northeast Corridor the line is owned by Metro-North. The rest of the tracks from New Rochelle to Penn Station are owned by Amtrak. This section of the Northeast Corridor is arguably the busiest section of the entire corridor especially between Stamford and New Rochelle with countless amounts of trains running during weekday peak-hours. As such, the line is often plagued with delays especially to Amtrak trains due to congestion and frequent maintenance-work to aging-bridges and stations. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the journey! :) Additional Information: Recording Date: July 31, 2020 Editing Tool: Sony Vegas Pro 17 Leading Locomotive: Amtrak ACS-64 #6??
