17- Final impression of upper arch. Part 3: Making the wash impression

Clinical steps: • Mixing of the rubber base impression material. • Condensation silicon medium consistency rubber (Base paste - Catalyst paste). • According to manufacturer instructions apply equal lengths from base and catalyst on the glass slab or mixing pad. • Start mixing using a mixing spatula until obtaining homogenous color of the mixed materials. • Load the tray with the impression material using the spatula or wax knife. • Distribute the material well to the impression surface& borders of the tray. • Insert the tray inside patient mouth from side to side& hold it with index and middle fingers of the other hand. • Start border molding of labial, buccal flange & the posterior palatal seal area. • Hold the tray steady until complete setting of the impression material. • After complete setting of the impression material remove the impression from the patient mouth. Break the seal if the is a difficulty to remove it. • Suction sound must be heard during impression removal. • Pressure areas can be corrected by relief of the compound on borders or the fitting surface of the tray then take an overall impression wash. • Review the anatomical landmarks of the impression, disinfect it and send it to the lab. #step_by_step_complete_denture_making
