#westbromwich HOME PAGE    / @awalkwithphil   I walk along the whole length of BEECHES ROAD in search of any evidence of what was once a road lined with villas and 3 story buildings on both sides of this road. In the end I was surprised to find any at all. The park entrance has lost its identity has a busy road has cut right through it. The road now contains a mish mash of different types of houses that no longer represent what Mr Nicholls the original architect had envisaged. If only knew, he would probably be appalled at such an extraordinary change Amazingly the road does have 2 redeeming features which includes the main church and a school. These were both built around the same time as many of the houses yet they are still functionning anf preserved as grade 2 listed, whilst the vast majority of the houses have been swept I finish the walk at the end of Beeches Road near the very noisy expressway.
