I explain when the bakers finally met its demise despite them still being a very popular brand.The bakery that used to skirt Victoria and Stafford Streets is now long gone and a large MECCA bingo hall now stands in its place The steel clad van depot still stands in Stafford Street but there is nothing about it that reminds the passer by that this was once a Hickinbottoms building. The air in Wednesbury was once filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and could be smelled from miles around. It was yet another nail in the coffin for what was once a huge industrial and prosperous town but hardly any reminders of that past now remains I visit the humble beginnings of Hickinbottoms in Lower High Street before walking to Victoria Street. The walk ends by the van depot in Stafford Street.
