SYMPTOMS: coughs, stalls out when you roll on throttle from idle, but when you very slowly roll on throttle the engines stays lit and functions ok most of the time. Appears to run rich (plugs fouled and smoke from exhaust). Idle appears fine. When you ride it, the bike chuggs and bucks intermittently. COMPLETED ACTIONS: over the last couple months I have sea-foamed/carb cleaned the heck out of the carb; taken apart the carb and cleaned everything, had a "professional" clean it for $80, I cleaned it again and replaced the pilot screw, spring, and o-ring; the float chamber gasket; and float valve; cleaned and blew out all jets and passageways and emulsion tubes. I disconnected the accelerator pump but the symptoms did not change. I by-passed the fuel auto valve (ran the fuel tube direct from petcock to carb). Replaced the fuel strainer screen (no fuel filter per in 2001 VT600). Replaced gas with non-ethanol unleaded. I emptied the float bowl, then let the fuel run into bowl for 5 seconds, then tested the bike. Symptoms did not change, so conclude the floats are not getting heavy or have a pin hole. Guess I will remove and disassemble the carb AGAIN and check / clean the main jet, needle, and emulsion tube and perhaps see if needle can be adjusted down to reduce richness. Frankly, I am about at a loss for what to do....
