This imbalance disrupts the normal functioning of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, which typically regulate erection and relaxation cycles. Patients suffer from additional issues like high-riding testicles, painful erections, and difficulty with urination and defecation, significantly impacting their quality of life. Hard flaccid syndrome's causes can often be traced back to specific triggers in the genital and pelvic regions, sometimes exacerbated by self-inflicted actions. Dr. Goldstein and his team are researching these triggers and potential spinal lesions that contribute to this syndrome. Although the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, their work aims to develop better diagnostic and treatment methods to help those affected by this distressing condition.
