Less pests this week but some very obvious dried-out hunks of coffee have developed in the bin. Lots of added moisture and a look at tell-talk signs of blue worms... THE PREMISE OF THIS EXPERIMENT: I heard some buzzing around the forums regarding the possible negative side effects of coffee on a worm bin, so I obviously decided I want to try it myself. Why not test it out and see what I notice: Bugs?— low overall but high in pot worms Smells?— moldy grounds stink but the bin is healthy Slower reproduction?— all signs point to no. Lots of babies Sluggish worms?— not at all. Feisty as ever. The buzz was related to a Facebook Group post where a few people were vehemently discouraging using coffee as a primary source of food because the caffeine and acidity negatively impact reproduction.
