On How I Play "Skinny Love" pt. 2

I forgot the riffs! Thanks to a very keen viewer for bringing to my attention that I left the riffs from the video off of the original instructional video I made for "Skinny Love". Bon Iver "Skinny Love" is trickier than it seems. Fist that Justin Vernon used a weird tuning that I couldn't pick out so I learned it in "standard tuning". That open tuning he uses makes those riffs easier to play because they are built into the chords he's already voicing on his resonator. Plus the open tuning gives him the ability to riff on one or two strings leaving so many rich over and under tones in the chord. Beautifully done :) then I had to go and learn it in standard tuning which makes it very difficult to play the chord and the riff at that same time. I didn't realize how tricky that is in standard tuning. I had to do a total of 12 takes on different days just to get it right. It was kind of an agonizing process because I didn't want to leave anything out. However I was thinking too hard about what I was playing so I was messing something up by forgetting a note here and there or playing a wrong note in the pattern or forgetting to mention something. This was the last take I was able to do quickly without any edits and without any tremendous errors. Hope this completes the lesson on my version of Bon Iver Skinny love for all that wish to know.
