2006 Toyota Corolla B1811 Air Bag Code - Clock Spring Replacement

2006 Toyota Corolla B1811 Air Bag Code - Clock Spring Replacement I start out by confirming complaint. I scan for codes and find an open circuit in the airbag system. (SRS) Code found: B1811 "Open in Driver's Squib (Dual Stage - 2nd Step) Circuit" After determining that the fault is associated with the steering wheel airbag circuit, specifically an open circuit to the airbag in the steering wheel, I set out to determine which of the two wires sets going to the airbag, is the one causing the problem. For safety and redundancy, there are TWO plugs to the airbag. What I want to do prior to "just replacing" the part, is test the circuit to determine exactly where the fault is. I semi-succeeded in isolating the fault to being between the clock spring input and the actual airbag, but failed to prove if it was the actual airbag itself, or the clock spring. I THINK I saw microcracks in the ribbon! (The fault was confirmed to be either in the clock spring itself, or the BLACK connector at the clock spring, as I have driven 5000+ miles over 5 months and it's still behaving) "You've got no more excuses...
