Nico / Jackson Browne - "These Days" (Cover by Tommy Miller)

When I first heard Nico singing this song within the context of The Royal Tenenbaums I immediately fell in love with it and learned the first chance I got. Originally penned by Jackson Browne, the song captures a state of reflection that I admire. This performance was recorded at Wandering Star Studios by my friend Bobbo Byrnes for their "One Take Sessions". Bobbo is a long time friend, and I have performed with his band The Fallen Stars numerous times. This performance was literally one take, as in there are no others. Bobbo and I were hanging out at the Wandering Star studios and he just set up some microphones and some cameras. After the first run thru Bobbo immediately called me into the control room to hear it. We both really liked the sound and the take so that was it. Bobba gave me an immense compliment saying it was "the easiest mix he ever did". The set up of microphones really gives the Gibson guitar a three-dimensional sound. I will certainly be working with Wandering Star more in the future so expect more of these one take studio performances.
