But it was the running game that took center stage in this one, totaling almost 400 yards on the day. The defense smothered Maryland, harassing their quarterback so much that turnovers and short lived possessions gave the Lions great field position and opportunities all game. Penn State Top Performers: Ki-Jana Carter: 13 carries, 164 yards, 3 TDs Mike Archie: 11 carries, 125 yards, TD Bobby Engram: 6 catches, 76 yards, 2 TDs Nittany Lion Defense: 3 interceptions, 5 sacks all in the first half Penn State improved it's record to 5-0 over Maryland, while the Terripins had to stomach an 0-5 record after the loss.
