The Vangoa instrument company recently contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing this little gem! I quickly accepted the offer knowing there might be a challenge playing a horn in this price range. This is the Vangoa VTB-1 trumpet and let me start of by saying this horn is definitely worth the $150 dollars! I’ll usually test a few things when playing a new horn in any price range. -build quality -sound (tuning, intonation etc.) -playability -feel -price This horn definitely meets and exceeds the all of these points (FOR ITS PRICE). I’d definitely say this horn is for people wanting to learn to play the trumpet and is an excellent option for the beginner stage of playing. Will this horn last 100 years? Probably not but keep in mind this is a learning tool to build your chops and muscle memory. Once you’ve gotten past these stages and decided you’d like to keep playing then spend some serious money on an intermediate or pro level horn! All the slides, valves and soldering points are great. This fit and finish are impressive (FOR THE PRICE). New valves will be scratchy on any new horn and will need to be properly broken in with oil and cleaning repeatedly until they’re smooth and fast. My testing routine is pretty easy. Take out of the case, add oil and play. This song and demo is exactly that! There is literally less than an hours worth of play time on this horn.
