The Tennis Racket Drill | A Simple Arm Action Fix?

Struggling with your arm path? Here’s a counter-intuitive cue/drill that “clicks” for a lot of guys. By examining the overhead serve in tennis, we can draw several key parallels to a pitching arm action in order to create a simple, yet effective, drill/feel to re-pattern a pushy or inefficient arm path. One of the biggest benefits to this cue is the feel of accelerating the arm from behind the body, rather than pushing into ball release via the tricep. Another key benefit for higher arm slot pitchers who struggle with a lazy or rotational glove side is feeling tension and elevation in the glove arm, helping to create some shoulder tilt and deliver the throwing arm back downhill.
