Hey Everyone in this video we take a listen to a stunning example of a Yamaha Roy Haynes signature snare drum. 'Words cannot express how I feel about my snare drum. From jazz to rock drummers, both young and old, everyone who hears it falls in love with it' Roy Haynes is one of Jazz's legendary drummers. He played with jazz masters like Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Sarah Vaughan and John Coltrane. The unique sound of this Jazz Great is embodied in his fantastic signature snare. The 14 x 5.5 Copper shell produces deep, dark low end and is highly responsive. The hand hammered finish creates a deeper tone with more sensitivity than previous copper shells. Additionally the 2.3mm thick steel hoop enhances the copper shell's tone with tightness and sharpness. Our demonstration starts with the snare placed in a musical context, then we show you some isolated drum mixes with the snare recorded at high & middle tuning registers. Like with all our audio demos there is no limiting to enhance the dynamic response, no digital reverbs are used, the ambience is naturally captured with room mics. We recommend listening through headphones or speakers for the best detail. The music used on this video is not a backing track. Rocky put the drums down first and the music was created and recorded afterwards, much like in a studio session to help demonstrate a more authentic feel.
