Egg Dyeing With Turmeric And Red Cabbage | How To Dye Eggs

The depth of color is controllable, depending on the duration you immerse the eggs in this natural, gluten-free dye. ✅Ingredients: 6 white shell eggs (boiled) 7 oz fresh red cabbage (200 g), (some shredded, some cut in small pieces) 2 medium size fresh turmeric rhizomes 4 cups water (1 l) 3 tbsp vinegar (7% acidity) 1. Boil your eggs and set aside to cool 2. Cut red cabbage in half 3. Shred some of the red cabbage with grater 4. Cut some of the red cabbage in small pieces 5. Grate turmeric root and pour some water on it, set aside 6. Place shredded/cut red cabbage in a pot 7. Pour water over red cabbage 8. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat 9. Simmer 15 minutes, covered 10. Add grated turmeric root 11. Simmer another 5 minutes 12. Turn off the heat and allow to cool completely 13. Cut cheesecloth in squares 14. Take some of the cooked red cabbage/turmeric solids from the pot 15. Place it on a piece of cheesecloth 16. Place BOILED egg on top of it and wrap the cheesecloth around 17. Secure the wrapped egg with kitchen twine 18. Strain cooked red cabbage/turmeric mixture into a large bowl to separate solids 19. Add vinegar to the liquid 20. Stir to mix it thoroughly 21. Place wrapped eggs into the liquid bowl (single layer) 22. Place unwrapped eggs into a piece of paper towel and immerse them into the liquid 23. Make sure they are covered with the liquid 24. Keep the eggs in this liquid for at least 3 hours (refrigerated) 25. The longer you keep the eggs in this liquid, the more intense color will be 26. Unwrap the eggs and remove all pieces of the cooked cabbage/turmeric solids 27. Place eggs on paper towel to dry 28. If you’re in a hurry, use hair dryer to dry the eggs 29. Use olive oil to polish the eggs to get a natural glow 30. Put a small amount of olive oil on a napkin or small piece of paper towel 31. Gently swipe the surface of eggs 32.
