Welsh little Italy

Mark Bourne, a former Welsh chicken farmer, spent a quarter of a century building replicas of famous Italian buildings in his garden, creating his own "Little Italy" hidden in the Welsh woodland. The unique model village that he created was never meant to be a tourist attraction but a memory of holidays in Italy. There are over 30 replicas in total. Besides the replicas of Italian landmarks, more than a third of the site is comprised of Renaissance architecture that is not inspired by any particular building. Since Mr. Bourne died in 2009, buildings and facades have crumbled and cracked but efforts are now being made to prevent his creation from further degradation.
