First, I have to say that I updated the description of this video, due to the information I gave about the meaning of the lyrics, which was not quite true. I sing in multiple languages spoken in Anatolia, but I only can speak English and Turkish. I usually read the English translations to learn what these songs say. I didn't have to tell this publicly, but you'll see where did all this lead me to. "Astrapsen I Anatoli" is a Greek lullaby from my hometown Smyrna/İzmir. I only could find the translation of the first verse and it was like "The sunrise shone, nurse, rock the child". This song always awakened some memories from a time when I was madly in love, just because I was putting this on repeat at that time. It was like, I wanted to finish all I have to do for the day, just to see him as soon as possible. And on the way to him, between old Greek houses remained, I put this song on repeat. And when it's over, it became very hard to listen to this song. I thought this song is not about love, but I had to release the burden. So I recorded this and reached out to Katerina Papadopoulou because she was my source for this song. She responded very kindly and told me that the song is actually a love story about Odyssey and Penelope. It's very freeing to finally release this song, leave it all in the past, and make something beautiful out of it. I sang, played, and recorded this at home. This arrangement I made is very minimalistic for me because I usually play three or four channels of violin, and sing a few channels of back vocals. For this, I only played one channel.
