Drumtune PRO for Android -Tuning a 12" snare drum resonant head to 509 Hz

A short power-demo wherein a 12" snare drum resonant head is tuned and cleared to a 509 Hz lug pitch. When tuning highly tensioned snare drum reso heads it's important to keep the following in mind: 1) Use a 'High tuning' snare drum preset. 2) Set the batter/reso switch to 'reso'. 3) Do not mute the opposite head. 4) Do not hit too close nearby the edge. Experiment which distance 2"-2.75" (5-8cm) gives the best readings to detect the lug pitch. 5) Once getting close to your desired sound, start fine-tuning. 6) Use 'lock target' on the correct lug pitch to clear the drum head and match all other lugs to the locked target tone. NOTE: A 14" snare drum reso head produces lower lug pitches for the same tension applied than a 12" snare drum reso head. The following rules of thumb apply when applying tension to a drum head: 1) The smaller the diameter of a drum head, the higher its lug pitches will be for the same tension applied. 2) The thinner the film sheet(s) of a drum head, the higher its lug pitches will be for the same tension applied. When tuning any drumhead very high, be careful not to crank it up beyond the tension range that it can take. (One can't generally tension a 14" snare drum reso head to lug pitches that high, before it'll snap, for example.)
