Creating an Anti-Depressant LIFESTYLE to Prevent BURNOUT & Recover from DEPRESSION | Dr. Rami Nader

Your lifestyle can have a huge impact on triggering a depression and maintaining depression symptoms. Fortunately, you can develop an anti-depressant lifestyle to protect you against developing depression or to help pull you out of a depression. The anti-depressant lifestyle revolves around the notion of having a sustainable lifestyle. We hear a lot these days about sustainability in terms of sustainable energy and sustainable forests, for example. But have you ever thought about your lifestyle in terms of sustainability? Do you have a sustainable lifestyle? To answer this question, you need to think about all of the things in your life that take energy out of your fuel tank (e.g., work/overwork, household chores, parenting, managing challenging relationships) and think about all of the things that put energy back into your fuel tank (e.g., exercise, diet, social interactions, having fun, proper sleep). If the energy out is much greater than the energy in, you are likely to experience burnout and depression. Therefore, it’s important to take steps to ensure that you are engaging in energy promoting activities as a way of warding off depression and ensuring that your lifestyle is sustainable.
