‘In Search Of…Grease (Rydell High School)’ One of our first stops while visiting Los Angeles, was Venice High School. The Art-Deco buildings on this campus have served as the backdrop for many films and music videos; most notably, the ultimate period piece, ‘Grease’. Pulling up in front of the famous facade, instantly transported us into the cast of the 1978 film. Some of the first scenes, and introductions to several characters, occur directly in front of the front doors of the main building. Promotional shots of John Travolta, as well as the quintessential in-movie shot of ‘Danny Zuko’ leaning against the wall, cigarette dangling from his lips, is easy to conjure. Very little has changed, and it was exciting to move from scene to scene around the schoolyard. Watch, as we relive the iconic ‘Summer Nights’ performance, and find exact locations of the Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) introduction to Rydell High. It was incredible to be on this ‘set’.
