25th National Federation of the Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines Annual National Convention Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City April 6, 2019 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended the 25th National Federation of the Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) Annual National Convention at the Iloilo Convention Center located within the Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Before the program proper, the President viewed the display of various big bike models from the companies of Ducati, BMW, Kawasaki, and Petron showcased at the main lobby of the Iloilo Convention Center. In his message, President Duterte reiterated his unrelenting efforts to instill law and order, curb graft and corruption, and destroy the illegal drug trade in the remaining three (3) years of his administration, to bring a hopeful future for the Filipino people. He cited government actions in dealing with corruption within the police force, addressing communist insurgency, fighting terrorism, and waging war against illegal drugs to preserve the integrity of the nation and the next generation of Filipinos. “Public office is a public trust,” he stressed. The President said that he would talk to Senator Richard Gordon for the possible suspension of Republic Act (RA) 11235 or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act that he signed recently. Under the law authored by Senator Gordon and Senate President Vicente Sotto III, two (2) license plates are required to be mounted on the front and back of each motorcycle. Being a rider himself, the President acknowledged the safety concern of installing a license plate in front of the motorcycle that is not designed to hold such, thereby endangering the rider and other road users. Instead of a front license plate, he suggested a bigger font for the back plate of the motorcycle to make it more readable for quick and easy identification of the law enforcement agencies. The Chief Executive is a known motorcycle rider and enthusiast, owning several motorbikes that he used to ride in his younger days and as Davao City mayor. As a member of Davao City’s On Any Sunday Rider Club, he travelled the entire ‘length and breadth of the country’ and fell in love with the beauty of the Philippines. More than 2,000 motorcycle enthusiasts nationwide participated in the two-day national convention from April 5-6, 2019 hosted by the Iloilo Motorcycle Club (IMC). * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang Twitter: @RTVMalacanang Google+: google.com/+RTVMalacanang
