I will apply my 40 years’ experience running class libraries with adults to doing the same thing with an online library like Oxford Reading Club, which has hundreds of readers at the level of your students, whatever their age and level. At about €26 a year per student it makes Extensive Reading easier and cheaper than ever. I recorded myself giving this presentation to check the time it took and the time I had (25 minutes) and then realized that I needed to reinstate a slide I had eliminated because it was included in part of the title "even speaking". The slide said this with the part between ** and ** in bold: Why do Extensive Reading? . When EFL students read extensively, they become fluent readers. But there is more. Studies have established that EFL students increase their vocabulary and become better writers. *We also know that reading extensively helps increase oral fluency- listening and speaking abilities.* Finally, students who read a lot develop positive attitudes toward reading and increased motivation to study English.
