This short video represents about one quarter of a 265 mile ride through Northern England and Southern Scotland passing through The Pennines, Kielder Reservoir and the Borders. The full ride takes us up the A68 and across to Kielder, towards Newcastleton, before branching off on the B6399 to Hawick. If you have all day and don't mind a short detour, try branching off to Binchester Bridge and then back to Hawick. From Hawick, you join the A7 towards Edinbourgh and Selkirk. Unlike me, turn off the A7 by going straight ahead at the monument in the town centre. Follow the down and cross the river before taking the fantastic A708 to St Mary's Loch. There's not a bad road from here - take the road to moffat, or as we did, cut across to Ettrick and towards Langholm and Longtown. If you do, the Buddhist monastery is worth a visit but was closed as we passed due to Covid restrictions.
