While enforcing traffic, I observed a black four-door Lincoln bearing the license plate DRI7994 out of Florida. The temporary license plate was expired, and I attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the aforementioned vehicle east of State Road 845 (Powerline Road). I activated my emergency lights and sirens, and the vehicle began to evade and elude. The suspect vehicle accelerated and changed from the inside lane to the outside lane, almost colliding with two vehicles. The vehicle was changing lanes and accelerating in and out of traffic. It also failed to stop at an intersection with a red light located at Newport Center Drive. The suspect vehicle entered Interstate 95 (State Road 9) southbound, and at that time, I executed a PIT maneuver. The suspect was ordered to step out of the vehicle with their hands up and get on the ground. The suspect complied, and at 6:01 PM, I placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was identified as Vintoya Woodard. A child was present in the front right passenger seat, and I contacted the Lake Worth Regional Communication Center to have paramedics come on scene to assess the child. After paramedics arrived and confirmed the child was okay, I released the child to Ms. Woodard’s relative. Ms. Woodard stated that she fled because she was scared and had a suspended driver's license. A female Broward Sheriff Deputy arrived on the scene to search the arrestee. Once the search was completed, I double-locked the handcuffs and placed the arrestee in the back of my patrol vehicle. I then transported the arrestee to the Broward County Jail. We arrived at the jail, and I transferred Ms. Woodard to the Broward County Jail without incident. All events occurred in Broward County. Thank you, Channel Members!
