Carlo’s goons bring Hunter to see Hesser. Carlo says Hunter isn’t going to Los Angeles and that he’s arranged to have the film negatives brought to a facility in Llanview where Hunter can complete the editing. Carlo says he put a lot of money into the film and intends to do everything he can to see a return on his investment. Hunter attacks Hesser and accuses him of trying to kill Megan. When Carlo’s men try to subdue Hunter, he knocks them both out. Hunter reluctantly agrees to still edit the film. Tina and Cord meet Viki and Clint at the airport, but so do Dorian and a gaggle of other reporters. Viki is defensive when the press asks about her reaction to Gabrielle’s guilty plea, saying she will be in touch with Troy and Herb after she goes home to see her children. Dorian suggests there is a coverup and asks the mayor whether she knows who killed Johnny Dee. When Viki refuses to comment, Dorian asks whether Niki Smith knows who killed Johnny Dee. Clint tells Viki not to let Dorian bait her, but Viki angrily pulls Dorian away from the rest of the press for a private word. Viki asks Dorian if she’s been going through Herb’s private files. Dorian deflects, but Viki says when the D.A.’s office prosecutes the case against Hesser, she will know the facts. Megan and Jake head to Llanfair to welcome Clint and Viki home, but they are surprised to find no banners, streamers, or fanfare when they arrive. They spot Kevin carrying a cardboard box and assume he is planning to decorate, but her defensively says the box is his private stuff and that he’s moving out. Megan tells him it’s a lot cheaper to live at home, and he’s not ready to strike out on his own. Jake says he left home around that age and it was a hard life, he missed out on a lot. Megan fails to get through to him and she worries that she got too angry Herb and Dorian meet for coffee at Andy’s Place. Dorian thinks he wants to talk about her “heartfelt apology” letter, but Herb takes her to task for interfering in his investigation by harassing the mayor at the airport. He says her antics could put his case against Carlo Hesser in jeopardy. Dorian asks whether he’s admitting that the Johnny Dee case and the attempt on Megan’s life are related, a question which only further infuriates Herb. Back home at Llanfair, Viki says no matter how Dorian got her information, the fact is that Niki Smith did kill Johnny Dee and that Viki herself will have to be held accountable for his death. Jake reminds her that it was pretty clear from the tape that Niki was acting in defense of herself and Tina, so there’s no chance those charges would stick. Kevin greets his mom but then tells her he’s gotten an apartment and is moving out. Viki blames herself for the rift between her and her son, and she plans to go to his new place and mend fences. Hunter arrives at the editing facility and tells the technician not to make any additional copies of the negatives. The technician is surprised, but Hunter says he doesn’t want to spend any more money until he decides what he wants to do. After the technician leaves him alone with the film, Hunter watches the final scene. Speaking to Megan’s image on the screen, he says she’ll never forgive him for what he’s about to do, but he hopes she’ll understand. Later, Carlo arrives at the editing room just in time to watch Hunter destroy the negatives and the only print of the film. Carlo fumes over the $3 million he flushed down the toilet on the film. Dorian goes on a local talk show, ostensibly to talk about tabloids, but she wastes no time attacking Viki and accusing her of wide scale corruption and dereliction of duty. Viki walks into the studio during Dorian’s remarks and the producer gives her permission to join the discussion. Viki defends her record as mayor and refutes Dorian’s insinuations about Herb and Troy covering up the truth about Johnny Dee’s murder. She says the case will be decided in a court of law, not on this TV program or in the pages of the Intruder. After the segment ends, Viki says the only thing Dorian will accomplish by coming after her is creating more misery for herself. But Dorian remains undeterred.
