One Life to Live 3/18/1991

Hunter catches up to Megan and Jake at Andy’s Place to tell them about his ordeal with Carlo. He explains that Carlo wanted his name in the credits as the Executive Producer, so he took drastic measures and destroyed the negatives of the film. Megan forgives him, but Hunter says his career likely won’t recover. Jake says Hunter could cash in the plane ticket and stay in Llanview. Unnoticed by Jake, Milton enters the bar and sits nearby. When Jake leaves to head to the office, Milton follows, but Hunter spots him and tails him. Reporters hound Gabrielle at the courthouse, but Dorian comes to her rescue. Dorian tries to bond with Gabrielle over their shared “victimization” by the Buchanans, but when Dorian starts talking about the case, Gabrielel says her lawyer has advised her not to say anything to anyone. Dorian understands and pivots to talking about Gabrielle’s financial situation. She says Gabrielle wouldn’t have any money problems if she agreed to give an on-the-record, exclusive interview to the Intruder. Gabrielle says she shouldn’t talk about any of it, but Dorian says the offer is good for the next 48 hours, and after Gabrielle leaves, Dorian speculates she’ll hear from her in less than a day. Kevin and his friends are hanging out at his new apartment when Viki drops by to see him. Kevin introduces his friends as Scooter, Shirley, and Peter, but they leave as soon as his mother arrives. Viki apologizes for spoiling his homecoming party. Viki apologizes for not being honest with him and instead lumping him in with the other kids. He admits he overreacted and didn’t mean to come down on her so hard. Viki asks if he would consider coming back home. Kevin says he doesn’t like saying no to her, but he stands behind his decision to move out. Viki says she understands, but she leaves in tears, and Kevin is visibly upset after she goes. In his office at The Banner, Clint rewatches his wife’s TV appearance. Viki arrives to tell him Kevin went through with moving out. They talk about her confrontation with Dorian and he says he’s been getting (and ignoring) a lot of phone calls about the matter. Viki says there’s only one thing to do about it. Troy and Herb meet for lunch to discuss Dorian’s TV appearance and the fallout for the two of them. Gabrielle meets up with Carlo, but he doesn’t have any news for her. At Jake’s office, he marvels at how quickly things change–days ago he couldn’t stand Hunter and now he’s trying to convince him to stay in town. He and Megan spend some time reflecting on their recent engagement, but they are interrupted when Milton bursts through the door. With his gun pointed at the happy couple, he demands his $50,000 back. Jake tells Milton he doesn’t have the money and claims it is in the bank. Milton says he had Jake followed and he hasn’t been to the bank since the poker game. Megan tells him to put his gun down and admits the money is in the safe. Megan takes the money from the safe and Milton asks where the rest of it is. As Milton is threatening Jake and Megan, Hunter bursts in, surprising him. As the three men struggle, the gun goes off. Gabrielle angrily tells Carlo her life is on the line and he isn’t treating the situation with appropriate urgency. Carlo says he is in total sympathy with her and he appreciates all she has done with her. He says that hopefully the judge is considering leniency, but if he hands down a harsh sentence, they will simply appeal the result until Carlo finds a judge he can pay off. Viki says she needs to give a press conference, but Clint says Dorian will turn that into a circus. Clint suggests she send out a press release instead and then perhaps read the statement on WVLE. Clint tells Viki he spoke to Jon Russell. He says Jon is doing well and has been practicing law full time. Clint says Jon will be in Llanview just in case they need him. Viki is about to leave to work on her statement when Kevin walks into the office. He apologizes for interrupting, but Kevin tells his parents he’d like to move back home. He says he’ll be gone away to college soon enough, and he’d like to spend as much time with them before them as possible. Viki hugs her son and says of course he can come back home. The reunion is cut short, though, when Troy shows up, He says he doesn’t like what he has to do, but he has no choice: he must arrest her for the murder of Johnny Dee.
