Mario Forever Flash - Longplay

A longplay of Mario Forever Flash. One of the hardest Mario games I've ever played. I didn't really plan to do a perfect run on this one. This means, there are deaths in my run, but I've tried quite hard to minimize the mistakes, even though I shouldn't have done the silly mistakes I made on world 3. This game contains cruel level designs specifically in world 4. Those levels are difficult and can a lot of attempts to complete. You will need to know the level design and structure well and build up a good strategy in order to handle difficult levels. There are no checkpoints in this game except for the castle levels, which allow you to restart the level right before the Bowser part, if you failed to defeat the Bowser on previous attempt. This game let you continue at the previous level if you got a game over, but you will continue at the beginning of the world at the main menu. Here are my reviews on each level: 1-1: Being the first level, this is pretty much a cakewalk. But if compared to the 1-1 in Super Mario Bros, this is definitely slightly more challenging. 1-2: Same as above, but for some reasons, I feel this is more straightforward than the 1-2 in Super Mario Bros. 1-3: First athletic level, that being said, it is indeed trickier than the previous two levels, but this is still a very easy level overall. But I've been wondering on the secret area, does the hidden blocks right above the brick containing 5 coins actually exist? Since it is impossible to find out. 1-4: The easiest and most straightforward castle level in this game. You will also find a hidden 1-up mushroom on somewhere you won't expect. 2-1: There are plenty of spinies and flying koopas in this level, which can be a bit tricky for the beginners. 2-2: The only potential difficulty in this level is the red piranha plant at the top. You can barely see where the fireball shoots aim on, as they are shooting out of the screen. There is a fair chance the fireballs might get you. 2-3: A rather odd but unique level design of an underground level. At the first part, there are fences and trunks with blocks representing the tree crowns. As you progress, you will meet a cliff coming from the top with some trunks attached on it, which is quite an interesting design to me. There is a glitch at the piranha plant part, which can yield 20+ extra lives. 2-4: The beginning part of this level is a bit challenging, but relatively easy to get through. You need to watch your step there, some red flying koopas can actually be skipped, but I wouldn't take the risk. You will find two hidden mushrooms close to each other, right before the pipe part. Take this as an advantage, but beware of the red piranha plants ahead. Beware that a glitch can actually happen in this level that can cause the game freeze! If you defeated the Bowser and get hit by a spiny before the level complete jingle. 3-1: A pretty much strategy-based level. It may look difficult at first, but it's actually quite easy if you dodge the red piranha plants carefully. I skipped the question block containing a star because I didn't want to risk falling onto the piranha plants. How the moving platforms work at the end may confuse some of the players. 3-2: The only difficulties presented in this level are the red piranha plants and the lakitu. Anyway, it's definite great to feature a night snow-themed overworld level. 3-3: This is one of the levels you must watch your step. There are loads of bullet bills and spinies at the bridge part, but this level is not too difficult overall. There should be more levels covered with snow. 3-4: There's a glitch, where you will still fall into the lava when you clearly landed on the moving platform, and I couldn't figure out the cause of this. The similar glitch in 2-4 can happen in this level too. 4-1: You will have to do the tedious precise jumps at the beginning, but the rest of this level are far more difficult to get through. 4-2: Most frustrating level design ever. Skipped all the questions containing poison mushrooms, the koopa jumping part is far more challenging than in 2-4, which plays tricks on you and requires you to know which ones to be jumped over and to be skipped. The piranhas are arranged to the way you need tricky precise jumps. And the goombas at the end may screw you up, not to mention the lakitu messing around with you throughout the whole level! 4-3: Another brutal one, the blocks are used instead of bricks so you can't easily kill the hammer bros at the beginning, and there are just too many bullet bills ahead. 4-4: Not as difficult as the rest in world 4, but again, watch your steps. 4-5: The two small bridges can be taken as an advantage to protect yourself, but avoid yourself with a good timing when Bowser shoots flames at you. Try not to jump onto the long bridge when Bowser is shooting fireballs. Last but not least, if anyone can point out the hidden stuff I missed which aren't listed above, I'd appreciate that. Enjoy your watch. :)
