Mario Super - Longplay

A longplay of Mario Super. This sequel is very easy compared to the original Mario Forever Flash game. This game also has a slightly easier gameplay compared to it, such as if you're Firely Mario and if you get hit by an enemy, you will remain as Super Mario instead of just Small Mario. If you fall off into a bottomless pit as Firely Mario, you will also restart the level as Super Mario. The Bowser in this game moves slower and is more fragile, taking much fewer hits to be defeated. However, there are no checkpoints in castle levels, so if you failed at the Bowser part, you will start from the beginning of the castle level again. On main menu, this game also allows you to continue at the previous level, instead of the beginning of the world. WARNING: There's a glitch in this game, where the game would freeze if you go all the way to the right of the screen after defeating the Bowser. In this case, you will hear the death sound effect before the level complete jingle. To prevent this from happening, avoid yourself from getting too close to the right of the screen. This game itself has a lot of weird level designs, which I don't understand some of them. Here are my reviews on each level: 1-1: You are provided with two question blocks containing a mushroom on both, so it is basically a free Firely Mario power-up at the beginning. With Firely Mario and only easy enemies such as goombas and koopas, this level is a cakewalk. 1-2: Same as above, except that there are more koopas in this level. (I missed a hidden mushroom at 1:04 there.) 1-3: Same as above too, there's nothing much to comment as it is still a pretty straightforward level. 1-4: I don't quite understand the design of the beginning part of this level. As you see, there are supposed to be lava at the bottomless pit, but they are somehow sealed out with the ceiling tiles. Maybe it was not supposed to be there, or it was modified to be easier? Oh well... And strangely, this level uses overworld colour palette despite being a castle level. You will also see a small green pipe underlying the bridge at the end of the level somehow, although it is not shown in this video. 2-1: There are not much to comment in this level, except that the pile of coins at 4:01, the blocks sealing the bottomless pit at 4:04, and the setup of bricks at 4:11 look quite awkward to me. 2-2: The placement of the blocks in this level is rather strange but unique. At 5:36, there is a goomba placed above the block at the top, which is a small trick there you should watch out. 2-3: This is one of those levels which I never understand the level design. Was it supposed to be a night overworld bridge level, or an underground level, or both? Based on the level map and structure, it was probably meant to be the former, but according to the colour palette and music theme used in this level, it is the latter. Oddly, there are bonuses located in such weird place, with small platforms underneath the treetop granting access to them. 2-4: The later part of this level has an odd but interesting shape of the ground, with some piles of coins around. 3-1: This level was probably intended to be a night overworld level, but it uses underground colour palette, even the pipe colour. But, the blocks used are still the overworld ones. Also, despite of this being a night level, the cloud and the scene used on the background are normally used for a day overworld level. 3-2: The sprite of the fences, trees and pipes used in this level are coming from the ones in snow-themed overworld level. But I'm quite disappointed that there is no snow on the ground but instead just an ordinary grassland ground. Maybe it is possible that this level was intended to be actually snow-themed. Also, I don't see the purpose of the small platforms at the top at 11:07. Maybe they are just there to avoid the lakitu from getting you. 3-3: Same as above, but... a possible combination of day and night? The sky tells a day, but the hill used on the background tells otherwise. There is a weird level design where you can't just collect some of the coins at 12:05. 3-4: This level is pretty much a modified version of 1-4. However, the placement of the coins remain unchanged, making some of them impossible to collect. 4-1: An overworld level but with underground background, which is odd. This is almost an exact copy of 1-1 from New Mario Flash, with few changes. (I missed some hidden blocks at 15:07 there.) 4-2: All the flying red koopa troopa in this level are located above the ground, which is quite unusual for a level design. 4-3: An exact copy of 1-1, but with different background. 4-4: Nothing much to comment on this level. 4-5: This is pretty much an easy version of the one in Mario Forever Flash, as the Bowser moves slower and only takes 3 hits to be defeated as opposed to 9. Last but not least, if anyone can point out the hidden stuff I missed which aren't listed above, I'd appreciate that. Enjoy your watch. :)
