Motorcycle rear shock service (Suzuki DR650)

Dino’s Tinker Shed, S3 Ep9, Motorcycle rear Shock Service (Suzuki DR650). In this episode, I take you to Welland Ontario, to meet Oliver Audet, owner and operator of Performance Shock and Custom. PSC specializes in the service and rebuilding of power sport shock absorbers focusing mostly on the snowmobile market but is also equipped to work on motorcycle and ATV shocks as well. This is the first time Oliver has ever been on film little long on YouTube and I think he does a fantastic job of walking us though the process of servicing my shock. The Dr650 comes equipped from the factory with a very simple KYB shock/ spring assembly that is equipped with only spring preload and compression damping. However, the shock is serviceable, and if needed rebuildable with either standard factory or performance aftermarket components. Unknown to many, if your shock is serviceable, it is a good practice to change the shock oil, check the internal components and seals and inspect the main shaft for pitting at least every two years depending on how aggressively you ride. Routine service will ensure that the shock is performing at peak efficiency and providing the best possible ride compliance it can regardless of what make or model of shock you have installed.
